In addition, a built-in GPS receiver Geo-tags your videos and photos. 32GB1 Flash memory The built-in 32GB1 embedded Flash Memory can record and store up to 24 hours of high definition video footage (HD LP mode), or up to 42 hours of standard definition footage (SD LP mode). 1/2.88" "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor with ClearVidTM array A 1/2.88" Exmor RTM CMOS image sensor delivers bright, vivid, spectacularly detailed video footage, as well as 12 megapixel still images. The best camera in the market... Sony is still the king..
This is an unbeatable camera at this price range. Everything will be captured exactly the same what it looks like in real even in low light condition. Get an extra battery (5hrs life) & HDMI cable then you can show off your camera anywhere having an HDTV.

GREAT CAMERA
CAMERA IS SO CLEAR IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE THERE. I toiled on the web before selecting this camera......worth the work. I cant say anything bad about it except the menus are a little hard to get used to.

Very nice low light Camcorder
I bought a cheaper version of the HDR-CX500v, and was not at all happy with the low light video. This camera is a night & day difference. I guess you get what you pay for. This camera has lots of options, and paired with the Sony VRD-MC10 stand alone DVD recorder, its so easy to put on DVD & play in my Blu-Ray player. Also, could not beat the price & free shipping that Amazon offers.

Video Dad
This is the last video/still camera that I will have to ever purchase. I am a Dad of 5 with an RV and go to Disney every other year for the past 20 yrs. I always had to take 2 cameras - one for video and then one for still. I started out with a VHS camera - 2 models - then went to 8MM - two models - and then MiniDV which was a combo video & still. (all sony) This was the best yet but I started to transfer the tape to DVD for long life. I put off buying a new camera - did not buy the DVD or HardDrive camera. Then this came along.

It is perfect but: As the above video cameras had a storage item (tape or film) the memory card camera needs for you to transfer the data to the computer or DVD ASAP. This is fine but you need to be a computer person to understand the process. The camera comes with fine Sony software to do this but TAKE A DAY to understand on how you will categorize everything and then put them on DVD with the proper labels otherwise you will have a mess with dates and not real names of events. Create your disks ASAP once you put them on the computer or do not take them off the camera until you so as you do not have a back up. I created different files (In Windows) for video and pictures by month or event for easy DVD transfer - do this or it will be a mess. Do a test with the transfer labeling first. You can add photos to CD until the CD is full but you cannot add more data to the DVD - FYI. I use CD media for Pictures and DVD for the video. Take an hour and go through the whole camera menu to understand the unit - increase the speed of the video for better quality. Use the video for video and the still for still - it changes the size of the still. Use Red Eye. Buy a small bag ASAP.

That is it but this is the last camera most people will ever need to buy.

Specs FYI: Perfect HD quality (amazing) - still and video. Battery lasts 1.5 hours. Camera storage is at 10 hours of video. 2500 pictures. I do not think you will ever need the 64GB. I did not get a memory card either.

Good Luck.

Sony HD Handycam
I have two older Sony camcorders that work perfectly fine. I bought this camera for Christmas and have fell in love with it. It is small enough to fit in a pocketbook and the video so far lives up to the Sony name. I have taken outside shots and in the mall shots. I went from video to still shots. I loaded the Handycam PMB to my computer and it worked well with my Vista. I like the lens cover now a part of the camera and closes and opens automatically. No more trying to remember to take the lens cover off before taking video.
As a grandmother to four grandsons I am excited about this camera's ease of use how it fits in my pocketbook without carrying the camera bag around everywhere. Love this camera.
