I've had the NV-563 for about a year and am pleased with it. The picture is reasonably good and can be viewed from nearly any angle. It isn't a 800x600 resolution frame, but that's nearly impossible to find in this size. That said, the picture is fine unless you get pretty close to it. Color rendition is very good.
One thing I really like is the 4:3 aspect ratio which is close to what a normal digital picture is. A 16:9 aspect ratio, which most frames seem to be going to lately, just means your digital pictures won't fill in the entire screen unless they are squashed or cropped.
The software isn't especially intuitive but certainly isn't as bad as some other brands out there. My biggest gripe is that the larger the file size of the picture being displayed, the longer the image stays on the screen so if you have various picture file sizes loaded onto it (either by a memory-card or the usb port) the larger file size stays longer regardless of the amount of time set for display.
It does play jpeg movies with sound or you can load your favorite music to play with your photo slide show. The sound is what you'd expect from something this small, tinny and faint. However I bought it for slideshow capability, not mp3's or music.
I'd purchased 2 other frames locally, one never loaded the images at all and the 2nd only worked once out of 5 tries. Pretty embarassing when they're being given as gifts. Both were returned to the store where they were purchased. I'm ordering my 2nd NV-563 today. I'll stick with something I know works.
UPDATE: Shipped using Amazon Prime, my 2nd NV-563 arrived quickly. As soon as the SD card (not included) was inserted and frame was powered on, the slideshow began. Image quality is the same as the first one, good. My sister finally received her birthday gift, a frame that works and works well. I'm happy I wasn't embarassed a third time.
Would I buy another NV-563 if the need arises? You bet!
